Quive Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 18, 2026
Heldeneye (the “Developer”) respects the privacy of everyone who uses Quive. This policy explains what information Quive handles and how it is protected.
1. Information the Developer does not collect
Quive does not require an account or sign-in. The Developer does not operate a server that stores user data and does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Contacts or location data
- Advertising identifiers
- Photos captured with the camera
- Saved books or passages
- Analytics or tracking data
Quive does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The Developer does not sell user information or use it for advertising.
2. Information stored on your device
Quive stores the following information locally on your device to provide its features:
- Book information such as ISBN, title, author, publisher, publication date, page count, and cover image
- Passages and page numbers saved by the user
- App language and other preferences
- Local statistics such as the number of times a passage was shared
The Developer cannot access this information. Depending on your device settings, it may be included in backups managed by Apple.
3. Camera and text recognition
The camera is used only to scan book barcodes and photograph book pages.
Page photos are processed on the device using Apple Vision. They are not permanently saved in Quive or the Photos library and are not uploaded to an external server. Only text that you choose to save is stored on your device.
4. Book information lookup
When you look up a book, its ISBN may be sent to one or more of the following services:
- Kakao Book Search
- National Library of Korea
- Google Books
- Open Library and Internet Archive
- Naver Book Search
These services may process the ISBN along with standard network information such as an IP address and request time. Saved passages and captured page photos are not sent to these services.
Information handled by these providers is subject to their respective policies:

- Internet Archive Terms and Privacy Information
- Naver Privacy Policy
The Developer aims to use only providers that protect information in accordance with applicable laws and their published privacy standards.
5. Sharing
Sharing happens only when you choose the share action. The selected passage, book title, and author are passed to the iOS share sheet. Any service you select then handles that content under its own privacy policy.
The Developer does not receive or store shared content.
6. Retention and deletion
Books and passages remain on your device until you delete them.
- You can delete individual books and passages in Quive.
- Deleting Quive removes its local data and cache from the device.
- External book information providers retain request records according to their own policies.
Because the Developer does not store user data on a server, there is no remote user database for the Developer to access or delete.
7. Camera permission
You can change camera access at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Camera. Barcode scanning and page capture will not be available when camera access is disabled.
8. Children’s privacy
Quive does not knowingly collect personal information from users of any age, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Quive’s features or applicable laws change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
